Mary's Apple Pie Syrup

1 cn Apple pie filling 1/2 Stick butter; (1/4 cup) 1/4 c Brown sugar; packed 1/4 c Rum; optional Put pie filling in the blender and pulse until it chopped up, but NOT pureed. Place it in a small sauce pan together with the butter and brown sugar. Bring to a boil; lower heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Add rum, if desired, and remove from the heat.
